Monte Vista School District is very proud of our efforts to bring the best educational opportunities to our students. In the last seven years we have moved from a school with average computer use, to one of the state's and indeed the nation's leaders in instructional technology. Our flagship program, Monte Vista's On-Line Academy has provided needed instruction to many of Colorado's students in need of alternative approaches. We offer a complete 7-12 curricula with the opportunity to earn a High School Diploma. As a result of this endeavor, our technological capabilities have grown tremendously, and this has carried throughout the District.
Internet Connectivity: Service is provided by Bresnan Communications. Fiber optic cables are used to provide 6Mbps of synchronous bandwidth.
Wide Area Network Structure: Connectivity between the 4 campuses is established by single-mode fiber optic cables. 1Gbps bandwidth is available for each fiber pair. There are 6 fiber pairs between each campus and the main campus.
Current LAN Structure: The Byron Syring DELTA Center, the High School, the Middle School, Bill Metz Elementary and Marsh Elementary have a 1Gbps fiber backbone that connects the Cisco switch fabric. There are a minimum of 2 network drops in each classroom that provide 10/100 or 10/100/1000 Mbps data bandwidth. Wireless access points are distributed across all 4 campuses providing 100% coverage in classroom spaces.
Computers: We have approximately 600 computers in the District. We have 7 Windows 2008 servers which support e-mail (Exchange 2007), web site, domain login services, and file and print servers and applications servers. All have Internet Access .
